Half a bottle of whiskey ago..!

Blondie, wearing a tight and short dress, reached for the bell in the corner of the bar, signaling that it was time for last orders.

He hurriedly took a bar stool and waited for her to approach. However, as she took too long attending to other customers, he reached behind the bar and grabbed a recently opened bottle of Scotch, of which only a glass had been consumed. She glanced at him and nodded, giving him permission. Placing the bottle on the bar, he retrieved two glasses and some ice before returning to his table.

Seated now, he poured himself a drink in one of the glasses he had acquired and began savoring it. The second glass sat on the table, containing just a few ice cubes.

A girl dressed in a formal black dress passed by his table, catching his eye with her incongruous choice of shoes. She wore flat shoes, which clearly weren’t what she had put on before leaving the house in the evening. He briefly contemplated asking her about the shoes, but she preempted him by inquiring about the second glass.

With a sly smile, he responded, “It’s for you!” She showed no surprise on her face, simply pulled up a chair, poured herself a glass of whiskey, and extended her hand in introduction. “Cassidy,” she said softly.

Feeling the need to introduce himself as well, he reached out to shake her hand and reveal his name. However, she swiftly grabbed his hand, pulled him closer, and whispered in his ear, “We’re not leaving this table until this bottle is finished. Do we have a deal?”

He appreciated her approach and since he had nowhere else to be, he simply nodded before reclining in his chair, raising his glass, and waiting for her to do the same.

They continued to talk and take turns refilling their glasses. After a few drinks and many laughs, the blondie from behind the bar approached their table. First, he looked at him and then at her before posing a question, “How long have you two known each other?”

Instinctively, he glanced at the whiskey bottle, which was now less than half full, and then at Cassidy, quietly responding, “About half a bottle of whiskey ago.”
