The red icon on the phone…

Late at night, the phone disrupted his sleep with a persistent ring, prompting him to groggily assume it was the alarm. Fumbling to silence it, he inadvertently answered the call. A hoarse voice on the other end greeted him with a casual “Hi!”

Realizing the unexpected call, he hastily pressed the red button. Was it avoidance, indifference, or a calculated decision based on past experiences? The red button symbolized a firm choice with no turning back.

In the morning, over a cup of coffee, he questioned his choice with a simple “Why, No?” Was it ego, strategy, or a fleeting feeling? The coffee finished before he could articulate an answer, and life moved on.

Later that day, curiosity led him to listen to the recorded call. Three unanswered “Hello!”s played out, prompting him to ponder the reasons behind his decision. Unsettled, he opted not to judge the tone and moved on after a single listen.

In the evening, a text arrived, providing a brief explanation for the call. Though unsatisfactory, he refrained from passing judgment, still grappling with his own reasons for not answering.

The narrative took a turn in the evening as he found himself in a car with two dubious-looking companions, headed to the airport with a friend. The details of this peculiar journey, however, remain a story for another night.

And so, with the promise of more tales to unfold, the night concluded with a simple “Good night.”
