A man walks into an elevator where he sees a couch -A lip couch of Salvador Dali- with a mini bar next to it. So first thing comes to his mind is that this is some sort of twisted joke. But considering the kind of hard day he has been through, he things he might as well just enjoy it.
He just sits down on the couch, reaches for a beer from the mini bar and starts to think ‘A great way to start his evening.’ A few minutes after the doors closes he then realizes he might a well stay there rather than pressing button for his floor. Then he only gets a glimpse of the floor button just to these were no ordinary buttons. There were five buttons. One on the top saying, black and the one on the left, past. Then there is the one on the right saying right, one on the bottom south and finally the one in the middle saying, notr.
Even though these are odd things still could they top the fact that he was sitting on a couch in a elevator next to a minibar full of beer. But again why not try and see what would happen if he pressed one of these butons? And there was only one way to find out.
So he reached for the button on the left saying ‘past’. then the elevator started to move. But this wasn’t your regular elevator going up, something else which he couldn’t just figure out. And it stops, doors open to a living room with so many kids, they he sees a birthday cake with candles lit. And there he is at the age of 6, with all the friends he liked at the time. Seeing which puts a smile on his face.
And the doors closes while he is lost in memories. So suddenly a feeling deep down inside makes him to want to press all the other buttons and see whats behind. So he reaches for the button on the top, black. Elevator starts to move again, he reaches for another beer, doors open, there is a big land with lots of people wearing black clothes which he then realizes they are in their graduation gowns. And there he is walking to the stage to get his award.
So the doors shut again. Another beer is opened. Other buttons to be tried. A great evening. So he reaches for south. A sip from the beer. Doors shut. Elevator moves as his hearts starts to beat even faster with excitement. And there comes the floor south. As doors open there it is, a beautiful park he played hide and seek with his beloved friends for hours till his mum calls him back for dinner just before the sunset.
Just as he starts to think it’s to much nostalgia, something makes him to press the button right. Which takes him to those traffic light, just as his mum is about to turn right with the green light as she realizes there is a car coming as fast as it can from the road ahead. Instinctively he closes his eyes just like he did long years ago in that car at that bright july evening.
As scared he is, he opens his eyes moments later just to see the doors were shut back and he was safe…or was he? I mean he was in a elevator, on a couch with a minibar. He was travelling in time/memories with pressing not very regular buttons.
And here there were, the very last button left. With the word ‘notr, on it. Would this be the button makes all this over nostalgia end. Hoping that it would, he pressed it. The elevator starts to move upwards, just like it does every single time he gets in it.
There he was, at the 12th floor of the building where he has been living for the last 7 years. A place just as much familiar as the others which he travelled with the ‘not very ordinary’ elevator. He gives a one last look at the elevator as he walks out of it with all the confusion. Was it all a dream? It must have been! But at the why would he care. These were some memories he cherished and some he tried to forget for very long years. As the thoughts in his mind he takes out his keys from his ‘right’ pocket. Opens his black door to his apartment at the south side of the city to see that there were a suprise birthday party waiting for him with some people he likes and not very much likes in the same room. As people starts to shout ‘Happy Birthday’ he just starts to run back to the elevator passing the by the movers carring a couch and a minibar to the flat next door.
